Trip April 2007

Several weeks of travel, activity, meeting people, bringing social aid and ministry.  Seeing the love and power of God touching lives.

Praying with people

Before going the Lord said “This trip will be like people stepping off the bank and entering the River of Life” And so it was. Had some amazing meetings and activities where we saw many people discovering Jesus for the first time.  Others touched by God in many different ways. The trip started in Puerto Cabezas, then onto Bluefields our main base with Pastor Ed. The highlight in Bluefields was I think the Holiness that came on the youth meetings. Lively young people meeting with the Living God and ending up in stillness many on their knees. Had the joy of joining Ed and baptising some adults by total immersion, Onto Tasbapauni this cut off community several hours away by fast pangua – there was sadness and blessing here. A new crop growing project was starting. This will be a challenge as there is very little grown by the people at this time.

After further period in Bluefields, which included discussing with other groups how the street kid work could develop in a large house and seeing what amazing results were accomplished by an 8 member American medical team, it was time to travel on to Muelle De Los Bueyes where this new Verbo church were going through some difficulties but also seeing God bless. We saw the land they are looking in faith to buy and build a church community centre. Time of fun was had with the Ranch Family, horse riding, baby calves, swimming in a creak, lots of laughter was a wonderful half day break.

Our final destination was several days with the other new Verbo church in Juigalpa. Here it was like a dust bowl. The church meets basically in the open and worship with out any instruments. Yet again wonderful people – a real family church – all ages meeting and having their lives touched and changed by encountering Jesus.

  Food rations made ready
Roof provided for home. We had with us, William, a young Deacon from Bluefields and training pastor evangelist. He came into his own as near by where the church meets there is a terribly poor camp of 45 shed homes with 65 families living in terrible conditions. Under William direction we were able to plan very carefully purchase and give each family basic life food ration of rice, brown beans, sugar and salt. It was a joy to also after giving out the food for a member of the team to be able to pray with a member of each family. Much blessing and tears resulted. There was an 83 year old lady whose home did not have a roof so again William organised with the little church there to repair her roof –within hours of the plastic roof being fitted we had an unexpected tropical rain storm. She was so happy – so were we. Praise God.
